Long Beach, CA - Long Beach residents can find free services, including entertainment, online learning and support for job-seekers via Long Beach Public Library’s new Your Library at Home webpage. The webpage is designed to be a one-stop shop for residents while library branches are closed and the “Safer at Home” order exists.

“The new Your Library at Home webpage makes it even easier for Long Beach families to continue to access many of our library’s resources during this unprecedented time of physical distancing,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.“The site is an excellent resource that ensures our library assets are available to all.”

Residents can easily obtain a Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) card although libraries are closed. Sign up online; then call 562.570.7500 to connect with library staff and activate the card.

A library card number and PIN will unlock the virtual doorway to a variety of resources for the entire family, including:

  • Gale Courses, which provides college-level, professional development and personal enrichment courses;
  • Brainfuse HelpNow, which provides live, online homework help;
  • Mango Languages, online language learning, including ESL and 70 non-English languages;
  • Testing and Education Reference Center, where people can practice for the SAT, AP or U.S. Citizenship tests;
  • Audiobooks and eBooks. 
“The mission of the Long Beach Public Library is to meet the information needs of everyone in our city,” said LBPL Director Glenda Williams. “In these historic times, we are working harder than ever to make sure every resident has free access to books and information online with Your Library at Home.” 

The library also hosts virtual storytimes via its Facebook page and YouTube channel.
