The City of Long Beach is aware of the oil spill that occurred off the coast of Huntington Beach earlier today. The City has been closely monitoring the situation and, based on current weather conditions, does not anticipate any impacts to the Long Beach coastline or local waterways. Long Beach beaches are open.

The City’s Departments of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications, Fire, Health and Human Services and Port of Long Beach are closely monitoring the situation. LBFD’s Marine Safety Division is actively patrolling areas along the Long Beach shoreline.

The safety, health and wellbeing of the community is of utmost importance. In the event of any unexpected impact to Long Beach, protective measures will be initiated promptly to mitigate the situation and safeguard the environment and community.
