The City of Long Beach is aware of reports of potential unlawful entry in a residential and commercial building located in the 100 block of W. 4th Street. The Long Beach Police Department is actively investigating the incident. The following details regarding the investigation are as follows:

In the early morning hours of Dec. 19, 2023, unknown suspects tampered with and made entry to a “Knox box” of a building in the 100 block of W. 4th Street. At this time, detectives are actively investigating the incident. LBPD South Division personnel have been in contact with residents to share safety tips and have increased their presence in the area. As always, we encourage our community to “See Something, Say Something” by calling Police Dispatch at 562.435.6711 to report suspicious activity. Always call 9-1-1 for emergencies.

While further details and the scope of these reports is not yet known, we assure our community that the safety and wellbeing of local businesses and residents are of great importance, and we are taking this very seriously.

The City is in communication with local business groups and residents to provide resources and information as needed, and will continue to connect with them throughout the course of the investigation.
