The State of California has provided clarification regarding the timing of the Regional Stay at Home Order for Southern California. The new order will take effect at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 6. The City continues to work with its State partners throughout this weekend to seek additional details regarding the Regional Stay at Home Order. Tomorrow, the City will issue a local Health Order that is aligned with the new requirements, and effective date and time, from the State. On December 3, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom announced the new Regional Stay at Home Order that would go into effect after a region’s ICU capacity fell below 15%. This morning, the State announced that the Southern California Region, of which Long Beach is a part, is now at 12.5%, surpassing the threshold. More details can be found in an earlier statement from the City.
