Street Improvements Coming to 4th Street (Alamitos-Almond)

Release Date: 2023-03-08

The City’s Contractor, All American Asphalt, is scheduled to begin street construction in the area in Spring 2023, with a scheduled completion, barring weather or other unforeseen delays, in Summer 2023. The work will take place on 4th Street between Alamitos Avenue and Almond Avenue.

The project includes removing existing pavement, resurfacing the roadway, sidewalk replacement, new curb/gutters, ADA compliant curb ramps, alley intersection replacement, bike sharrow markings, traffic striping, and other appurtenant work.

The City’s Contractor is currently constructing similar street improvements on 4th Street between Elm Avenue and Alamitos Avenue.

The contractor is scheduled to perform work Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. No parking signs will be posted a minimum of three days prior to the start of work. Efforts will be made to maintain as much parking as possible.

Intermittent intersection closures will be necessary to complete this project. While the contractor will attempt to open streets as soon as it is safe to do so, we encourage the use of alternate routes during work hours.

The contractor encourages residents to:

  • Keep away from the street and construction activities
  • Reduce water runoff from driveways and lawn irrigation into the street before or during construction activities

Thank you in advance for your patience and cooperation throughout this project.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding the project, please call the Department of Public Works at (562) 570-6678.  For emergencies, please call Jorge Ortega, All American Asphalt Project Superintendent, at (951) 736-7600.
