
Traffic Signal Upgrades on Santa Fe Avenue Are Underway

Traffic signal upgrades and construction have started on Santa Fe Avenue between Wardlow Road and Anaheim Street and Anaheim Street between Santa Fe Avenue and Oregon Avenue. Improvements include larger signal indications, new protected left-turn arrows, pedestrian countdown signals, upgraded signal integration with emergency vehicles, vehicle and bicycle detention, fiber optic cable communication upgrades, LED safety lighting, pedestrian push buttons, and ADA accessible curb ramps. Additionally, Santa Fe Avenue between Wardlow Road and Pacific Coast Highway will have new signage and sharrow markings to increase awareness and safety of bicyclists. Existing parking and vehicle travel lanes will remain as is and bollards will not be installed.
This project is estimated to be completed by Fall 2022. The constracted is scheduled to perform work Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. No parking igns will be posted a minimum of three days prior to the start of work. Efforts will be made to maintain as much parking as possible. Intermittent intersection closures will be necessary to complete this project. While the contractor will attempt to open streets as soon as it is safe to do so, we encourage the use of alternate routes during work hours. Residents are encouraged to keep away from street and construction activities and reduce water runoff from driveways and lawn irrigation into the street before or during construction activities.
