Bixby Park Bandshell and Park Improvements
Click here for the latest project updates.
Background
Bixby Park has been a Long Beach community hub since the early 20th century, once hosting state picnics, an aviary and even a speech by then presidential candidate Herbert Hoover in its bandshell. Today, the park continues its legacy, with weekly farmers' markets, a dog park, a skate park, sports courts and classes for all ages.
To preserve Bixby Park's rich history and ensure visitors can enjoy it for years to come, the City of Long Beach is making several improvements to the park, including upgrades to the historical bandshell stage. The upgrades were prioritized based on feedback from a 2022 survey conducted by the Parks, Recreation and Marine Department and a community event held on December 7, 2022.
This project is part of the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, a historic initiative dedicated to enhancing Long Beach parks, community facilities, mobility access, and streets. Learn more at lbelevate28.com.
