El Dorado Park Sports Field Improvements
Background
The El Dorado Sports Fields Improvements Project is part of a larger initiative to upgrade and revitalize El Dorado Regional Park. This project consisted of improvements to the youth softball and baseball fields and the surrounding areas that were conducted in two phases. The planning and design were completed by the City of Long Beach Department of Public Works and Parks, Recreation and Marine Department, in partnership with the Sports Office and representatives from Los Altos Youth Baseball and Softball.
Phase 1 of the project was completed by the Department of Public Works in Spring 2023, which included upgrades across Fields 1 through 6, updated backstops and dugouts on Fields 1-4, resurfaced pavement and posts throughout the quad and pathway to Field 5, laser-graded infields on fields 3-6, new perimeter fencing to prevent unauthorized vehicle access, and upgraded safety fencing around electrical equipment at Field 6.
Phase 2 of the project was completed by the Department of Public works in Summer 2025 and focused on enhanced accessibility, hydration, and facility refreshes.
This project is part of the Elevate ’28 Infrastructure Investment Plan, a historic initiative dedicated to enhancing Long Beach parks, community facilities, mobility access, and streets. Learn more at lbelevate28.com.
