Latest Updates - July 2024
The Santa Fe Avenue Synchronization Project was an ambitious effort to improve traffic flow, enhance safety, and modernize traffic control infrastructure on the West Side. The construction was completed in May 2023 with improvement from Anaheim Street in the south and Wardlow Road in the north. This comprehensive initiative upgraded all signal heads, added left-turn phasing arrows, installed Accessible Pedestrian Push Buttons (APS), upgraded street lights to LED street lights, installed Leading Pedestrian Intervals (LPI) at all intersections within the project improvement limits, implemented new traffic signal timing and equipment, and enhanced pedestrian crosswalks to ensure a safer and more efficient transportation system.
A key highlight of the project is the crosswalk in front of Cabrillo High School, which features Jaguar paw prints in high-contrast patterns and vibrant colors, making it more noticeable to drivers and encouraging them to yield to pedestrians. This enhancement not only improves safety but also contributes to the aesthetic appeal of the school zone.
Overall, the Traffic Signal Synchronization project represents a significant investment in the city’s infrastructure, aimed at creating a safer, more efficient, and more accessible transportation network. Through these upgrades, we are committed to providing our residents and visitors with a modernized and reliable traffic control system that meets the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
