Language Access Policy (LAP)

In City of Long Beach Resolution 13-0071, it is understood that removing language barriers is critical to achieving equitable access to available City services. This policy promotes greater access to services, programs and activities with the goal of attaining meaningful and understandable access for limited English language proficiency (LEP) individuals. City staff has determined that the following language will be covered for translation and interpretation services:

  • Spanish
  • Khmer
  • Tagalog
TI has been entrusted to add Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog options to phone trees and auto attendants. TI has also been tasked to provision translated content on essential web pages. The Voice team and Content Management team are part way into the effort which was funded this fiscal year. The bulk translation and provisioning of essential functions will be completed before the start of the 2016 fiscal year. Hereinafter, content and options will be created in all four languages as new digital materials or services are added.
