Public Wi-Fi Expansion
For the past several years, the City has offered free public wi-fi at City Hall, the Long Beach Airport and some libraries. New wi-fi initiatives are greatly increasing free wi-fi locations across the City.
Wi-Fi in Libraries
Recently, TI and Library Services worked together to upgrade the Wi-Fi capabilities at the City's libraries to enable library users to use their own devices to access online library resources, search the internet, connect with family and friends via social media, access government news and resources, download e-books, audiobooks, and music. The only requirement to access this wealth of information is a Long Beach Public Library card.
The expanded Wi-Fi service with more bandwidth, at a lower cost, is part of a network upgrade at the Main Library and all the neighborhood libraries. It was enabled by the City applying for and receiving special e-Rate funding.
