Long Beach, CA – Long Beach Airport (LGB) has been honored with a Digital Advertising award for Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications and Customer Experience by Airports Council International-North America (ACI-NA).
“Long Beach Airport is proud to be recognized and appreciated by ACI-NA for its efforts to communicate and connect with travelers — both here locally and throughout the nation,” said Long Beach Mayor Robert Garcia.
ACI-NA is a trade association representing commercial service airports in the United States and Canada. Since 1990, ACI-NA's awards have recognized the quality of work, abundance of talent, and creativity within the marketing, communications and customer experience fields of the airport industry.
Long Beach Airport took home first place in the Digital Advertising category. The award recognized LGB’s programmatic digital advertising campaign, launched in the summer and fall of 2021 with two primary objectives. First, the airport shared why it is the ideal launching point for Southern California residents looking to travel to the Hawaiian Islands. Second, the campaign focused on residents in cities with newly established nonstop service to Long Beach, such as Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Houston and St. Louis. By reaching consumers in those cities who were searching for air travel to the Greater Los Angeles area, the campaign introduced an entirely new market that may not have been aware of LGB’s status as a preferred gateway to Southern California. The campaign resulted in more than four million impressions and more than 3,300 flight searches by residents in the Greater Los Angeles region and cities with nonstop service to LGB.
“Our air carriers launched several new destinations in 2021, and we wanted to keep the traveling public in-the-know about changes to our route map,” said Airport Director Cynthia Guidry. “This award from ACI-NA really underscores the work we're doing to get the word out about LGB’s services through meaningful marketing, communications and customer experience strategies.”
The campaign, primarily focused on leisure travelers, highlighted the cool, convenient and diverse nature of LGB as a boutique airport with an award-winning indoor-outdoor passenger concourse that is easy to navigate. LGB, which is the oldest airport in California, boasts a relaxing vibe and local shops and restaurants that make it an inviting destination in and of itself for passengers.
Recipients of ACI-NA 2022 Excellence in Airport Marketing, Communications, and Customer Experience Awards were recognized at an ACI-NA event late last month in Vancouver, Canada. LGB was also recognized as a finalist in the Print Communications and Promotional Items award categories.
Long Beach Airport currently offers nonstop service to 17 destinations across the nation by major airlines, in addition to robust general aviation operations.
