Long Beach, CA – The City of Long Beach and Sixth District Councilwoman Suely Saro, along with City Fabrick, Lord Cultural Resources and United Cambodian Community, will host a Cambodian American Cultural Center (CACC) Community Forum on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the Homeland Cultural Center at Douglas MacArthur Park, located at 1321 Anaheim Street. Community members are invited to attend the forum to receive updates about the CACC and engage in community discussions.

In September 2021, the Long Beach City Council approved a recommendation, originally brought forth by Councilwoman Saro, for the City Manager to work with community stakeholders to create a vision and feasibility plan for a Cambodian American Cultural Center. Earlier this year, the City hosted a Community Visioning and Feasibility Plan Kickoff event where a survey was conducted to gather information on items of interest for the CACC. The survey results from about 400 community members, along with cultural center updates will be presented at the community forum. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide input through small group discussions on the purpose, activities and location of the CACC. Dinner and Khmer interpretation will be provided.

Additional information about the CACC visioning process is available on the CACC webpage.

This effort is made possible in part by the Long Beach Recovery Act, a plan to fund economic and public health initiatives for residents, workers, and businesses critically impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Additional information about the Long Beach Recovery Act is available at longbeach.gov/recovery.
