Long Beach, CA – The Long Beach Public Library (LBPL) is showcasing LearningExpress for the month of March. LearningExpress is an easy-to-use resource with online tutorials, practice tests and e-books to help learners achieve their educational and professional goals. Users can find educational resources such as college placement exams and grad school admissions test prep, as well as career readiness tools like career certification exam prep, resume writing, interview prep, and much more.

“LearningExpress and its Job and Career Accelerator is a wonderful resource that can help people foster the skills our residents need to enter the workforce confidently,” said Mayor Robert Garcia.

To get Library cardholders familiar with LearningExpress and its different modules, LBPL is hosting a live virtual workshop with a LearningExpress expert at 12 p.m. on March 2, 2022. This workshop is open to both cardholders and the public and will specifically focus on the Job and Career Accelerator module available in LearningExpress. Registration is required and is available on the Eventbrite page. Registered attendees will receive a recorded version of the event, so people are encouraged to register, even if they cannot attend the event live.

LearningExpressJob and Career Accelerator provides access to expert advice about job interviews, salary negotiation and work etiquette. Some of the tools include questionnaires to match your skills and interests to occupations, a directory of salaries and skills for over 1,100 careers, plus resume and cover letter builders. Job and Career Accelerator is integrated with Indeed and USAJOBS® so that users can search current job and internship postings.

“Searching for employment can be daunting at any stage in life,” said Acting Director of Library Services, Christine Hertzel. “We are pleased to offer a resource that not only makes the job application process easier but also helps patrons improve their interview skills and understand what careers suit their strengths and interests.”

Library cardholders can access the Job and Career Accelerator in LearningExpress through LBPL’s Digital Library or by downloading the LearningExpressmobile app through the App Store or Google Play.
