Long Beach, CA - The City of Long Beach proudly presents the 2023 Veterans Day Celebration to honor those who have served and are currently serving in the United States military. The free, family-friendly festival will take place on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Houghton Park (6301 Myrtle Avenue).

“Our annual Veterans Day Celebration is an opportunity for our community to come together, honor and uplift the brave men and women who have served our country,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “I encourage folks to come out and enjoy a day of family-friendly activities and recognize our local veterans.”

This year’s Veterans Day Celebration will feature a welcome ceremony with local elected officials and community leaders, a veterans recognition ceremony and a veterans and community resources fair. The celebration will also include emceeing and DJ’ing by Mr. Quick (intermittent sets) and live musical performances by the Satin Dollz (noon and 1:15 p.m.) and Knyght Ryder (2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m.), a Kids Zone, food trucks, a giant inflatable obstacle course, flyovers with historic aircraft (12:45, 2, 2:25, 3 and 3:55 p.m.), and community showcases.

“Our Veterans Day Celebration continues to honor local Veterans for their service and sacrifice while also offering important resources for veterans and family friendly activities,” said Ninth District Councilmember Dr. Joni Ricks-Oddie. “It is a privilege to continue to host this longstanding community event in Uptown.”

Additional details regarding this year’s Veterans Day Celebration will be available closer to the event date at longbeach.gov/veteransday.

The 2023 Veterans Day Celebration is presented by the City of Long Beach with guidance from the City’s Office of Veterans Support, Long Beach Veterans Commission and Long Beach Veterans Day Committee and participation from various community organizations. The historic aircraft flyover is presented by Long Beach City College.

The City’s Office of Veterans Support, located within the Department of Health and Human Services, was established in 2022 to carry out the goals, objectives and strategies identified in the City’s first ever Veterans Strategic Plan. The Veterans Day Celebration aligns with Goal 1 of the Veterans Strategic Plan, which focuses on recognizing veterans for their strengths and as valued members of our community, and regularly celebrating and honoring them. This event honors and uplifts the local Long Beach veteran community, which comprises more than 16,000 veterans and their families.
