SHELTERS & INTERIM HOUSING  

The City is committed to providing shelter beds to its unhoused residents, both through municipal shelters and beds provided by its partners. There are approximately 1,357 beds across Long Beach provided by both the City and its partners. The list below provides an overview of options based on individual criteria and needs. You can learn about housing access through a case worker at the Multi-Service Center.

  • 702 Year-Round Shelter

    Address: 702 W Anaheim St.

    Accommodation: Adults, no children under 18

    Referral Needed: Yes, from MSC caseworker

    The 702 Year-Round Shelter provides a safe, supportive place for people experiencing homelessness. It has over 85 beds year-round and expands to 125 beds from November to March during the City’s cold weather shelter season.

    The site provides:

    • Meals
    • Case management
    • Support to connect to permanent housing
  • Atlantic Farms Bridge Housing Community (ABC)

    Address: 6841–6845 Atlantic Ave

    Accommodation: Adults, no children under 18

    Referral Needed: Yes, from MSC caseworker

    The Atlantic Farms Bridge Housing Community is a 125-bed, year-round shelter that offers separate spaces for men, women, families, and LGBTQ+ individuals.

    The site provides:

    • Meals
    • Case management
    • Housing navigation
    • Referrals to health services

    It is pet-friendly, has limited storage, and is open 24/7 to provide continuous support.

  • Homekey at 1725

    Address: 1725 Long Beach Blvd

    Accommodation: Adults, no children under 18

    Referral Needed: Yes, from MSC caseworker

    Homekey at 1725 is a former Best Western hotel that has been converted into 99 private, non-congregate interim housing units, each with its own room and bathroom.

    The site provides:

    • Meals
    • Case management
    • Health & safety support
    • Assistance with permanent housing transitions

    This site serves individuals exiting homelessness and provides onsite support services in a trauma-informed environment.

  • Homekey at 5950

    Address: 5950 Long Beach Blvd

    Accommodation: Adults, no children under 18

    Referral Needed: Yes, from MSC caseworker

    Homekey at 5950 is a former Luxury Inn hotel that will be converted into 78 private, non-congregate interim housing units, each with its own room and bathroom.

    The site provides:

    • Meals
    • Case management
    • Health & safety support
    • Assistance with permanent housing transitions

    This site serves people exiting homelessness and provides onsite support services in a trauma-informed environment.

  • Seasonal: Inclement Weather Shelter

    Address: 1301 W. 12th St.

    Accommodation: Adults, no children under 18

    Referral Needed: No, first-come, first-serve basis

    The Inclement Weather Shelter opens during extreme weather to provide emergency overnight stays for up to 65 people.

    Services include:

    • A cot and blanket
    • Hot dinner and breakfast
    • Restrooms and hygiene supplies
    • Access to support services through the MSC

    The Winter Shelter has been concluded for the 2026 winter season.

  • Safe Parking Program

    Address: 1301 W. 12th St.

    The Safe Parking Program offers a secure place for people living in their vehicles to park overnight.

    The site includes:

    • 50 parking spots
    • Restrooms and handwashing stations
    • A pet relief area
    • Access to services through the Multi-Service Center

    The program is open daily from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m.

  • Youth Shelter & Navigation Center

    Address: 1718 Hayes Ave

    Accommodates: Young Adults (ages 18 – 24)

    Referral Needed: Yes, from MSC caseworker

    The Youth Shelter & Navigation Center is the City’s first permanent shelter for youth ages 18 -  24 who are experiencing homelessness.

    The center includes:

    • 12 beds
    • Restrooms, showers, and laundry
    • A kitchenette and lounge area
    • Daily storage for those accessing services through the City’s Coordinated Entry System
