Project Information

The 14th Street Park Improvements Project renovates existing park amenities, lighting, and installs new furnishings. Improvements include basketball courts, shade structures, and picnic tables and benches upgrades along with closing street intersections and enhanced park and playground safety.

This project will be a phased construction project with the first phase starting in January 2024. The first phase improvements will focus on replacing playground rubberized surfacing, replacing broken/missing play equipment, safety improvements, upgrading basketball courts, and installing new seating and shade. The Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department will also be installing a mural at the basketball courts.

Further improvements will be implemented upon project funding availability.

The Parks, Recreation, and Marine Department held a community meeting on December 7, 2022 and received survey responses from the community in Spring 2023 to determine the community's priorities for improvements at 14th Street Park. The community's priorities were tables and benches, playground upgrades, more trees, art/murals, and a hydration station.

Project Funding

The first phase of the project is supported by $500,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and $500,000 in Measure A funds. The remaining phases of the project are pending funding availability.
