2022 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update

Release Date: 2022-10-05

Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Communications is inviting members of the public to participate in the review of the City’s draft Hazard Mitigation Plan Update. Residents are encouraged to read the draft plan and share their feedback. The feedback survey is available in English, Spanish, Khmer and Tagalog.

The Hazard Mitigation Plan serves to reduce loss of life and property by mitigating potential risks and minimizing the impact of disasters. The Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires the plan to be updated every five years in order to maintain eligibility for certain federal disaster assistance and hazard mitigation funding programs.

The updated plan will be presented to the Long Beach City Council on October 18, 2022.

To review the draft plan and provide feedback, please visit our Hazard Mitigation Plan webpage.
