Project Information
The Ramona Park Playground improvements replaces playground equipment with exciting, inspiring, and inclusive play equipment; improves overall visitor experience with new amenities, seating, benches, and landscaping; and improves ADA access within and to the playground.
This project aims to:
- Improve accessibility by incorporating new inclusive play features
- Address extreme heat by adding cooling features such as shade structures, trees, and a fog mister
- Improve overall visitor experience
- Extend the useful life of the playground
The project began with a location study that took into consideration the current playground uses. The study determined that the new playground will remain in the existing location and almost double in size. From there, the team commenced conceptual design. The team has developed a concept design and will be presenting to the community for input on March 16, 2023.
Project Funding
The City of Long Beach received $1.5 million from the State of California (State Earmarked) and will receive an additional $250,000 of Measure A funds to be appropriated in March 2023.
