City Launches Safe & Secure Grant Program

The Program will provide financial assistance for small businesses to install security cameras, floodlighting, alarm systems and other eligible security improvements designed to improve visibility and help protect employees, customers and storefronts. Eligible improvements may also include security fencing on a case-by-case basis, subject to compliance with applicable City codes and permitting requirements.

Businesses may receive grants of $750 or $1,500 to purchase and install eligible security improvements. Storefronts of 1,500 square feet or less may qualify for a $750 grant, while storefronts between 1,500 and 5,000 square feet, or those with 25 or more linear feet of street frontage, may qualify for a $1,500 grant.

Eligible improvements may include security cameras, floodlighting, alarm systems, reinforced windows, doors and locks, point-of-sale systems and other security upgrades. Eligible improvements may also include security fencing on a case-by-case basis, subject to compliance with applicable City codes and permitting requirements.

Applications can be completed online and will be accepted until funds are exhausted. Funding will be provided as a reimbursement after eligible security improvements are installed. Eligible applicants must operate a publicly accessible storefront within Long Beach and hold an active business license with the City.
