As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

• Stabbing – 6000 block of Atlantic Avenue: On August 8, 2026 at approximately 12:23 a.m., officers responded to the 6000 block of Atlantic Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with a stab wound to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital where he reamins in stable condition. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in a physical altercation with the male adult suspect, which escalated when the male adult suspect stabbed the victim. Suspect information is under investigation. The investigation remains on-going.

• No-hit shooting – 2000 block of West Wardlow Road: On August 8, 2026 at approximately 3:16 a.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Arlington Street regarding an assault with a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, indicating a shooting had occurred, The preliminary investigation revealed that the male adult suspect and the victim are known to each other. The male adult suspect was taken into custody and booked at the Long Beach City Jail. No injuries were reported. The investigation remains on-going.
