Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!
As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department will begin posting information about recent police activity, ongoing investigations, and other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website.
At approximately 10:00 a.m. each day, community members will be able to read preliminary information about incidents that may have occurred the previous evening, including shootings, stabbings, traffic fatality, and murder investigations, as well as any other notable incidents. This page will be a resource for the public to learn more about enforcement efforts, arrests, and commendable events and will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Officers Arrest Suspect in Non-Fatal Stabbing - Last night, at approximately 8:47 p.m., officers responded to the 600 block of East 7th Street regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim suffering stab wounds to the upper body and arrested a male adult suspect. Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined the victim and suspect are relatives and were talking on the sidewalk which escalated into an altercation and stabbing. The Long Beach Fire Department responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital in critical, but stable condition. The suspect was identified as Lorynzo Landers, a 27-year-old resident of Long Beach who was booked for one count of assault with a deadly weapon. Bail was set at $30,000. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers Investigate Non-Fatal Stabbing- Last night, at approximately 8:10 p.m., officers responded to the 400 block of Golden Shore regarding a report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim suffering from stab wounds to the upper body. The victim stated he was near the area when he became involved in a dispute with a male adult suspect that escalated to the stabbing. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival. The Long Beach Fire Department responded and treated the victim at the scene for non-life threatening injuries. At this time, the motive for the stabbing is unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
- Officers Investigate Shots Call - This morning, at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers responded to the 300 block of East Ocean Boulevard regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no injuries have been reported, no suspect information is available, and the motive for the shooting is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.
