As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Hit Shooting – 200 block of E 25th Street - On Dec. 12, 2024 at approximately 7:03 a.m., officers responded to the 200 block of E 25th Street regarding a hit shooting. Officers located evidence of a crime upon their arrival, but both suspect(s) and victim fled before officers’ arrival. During their investigation, officers were advised that a male victim suffering a gunshot wound was admitted to a local hospital. Officers arrived at the hospital and contacted a male adult victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. It was determined the victim was shot at the scene; however, he was uncooperative with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took a gun off the streets.

On Dec. 11, 2024 at approximately 5:13 p.m., officers were in the 1600 block of E 2nd Street for a probation compliance check on a known parolee. During the search, officers recovered an unserialized assault rifle. The male suspect, a prohibited possessor, was arrested and transported to Long Beach City jail for booking. The investigation is ongoing.
