As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night: 

  • Hit-Shooting – 1000 block of Alamitos Avenue: On Dec. 18, 2024 at approximately 6:44 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of Alamitos Avenue regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a 17-year-old male with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the male to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male subject on foot approached a vehicle, and a shooting occurred. The motive and circumstances of the shooting are under investigation. 

Great work officers! Last night officers safely took a gun off the streets.
  • On Dec. 18, 2024 at approximately 7:46 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the 400 block of Zona Court. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was determined to be a prohibited possessor and was arrested.  The investigation is ongoing.
