As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Hit Shooting – 100 Block of West 12th Street: On Feb. 20, 2025 at approximately 6:14 p.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting in the area of the 100 block of West 12th Street. Responding officers located two male adult suspects fleeing the scene and were able to detain them. One of the suspects was in possession of two firearms. Officers located a crime scene. During the investigation, officers learned that a male adult victim self-transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to his upper body. The suspects were arrested, and the suspect with the firearms was found to be a prohibited possessor. Detectives responded, and the investigation is ongoing.

Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets.
- On Feb. 20, 2025 at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers in the area of the 200 block of Aquarium Way observed a male adult suspect with a firearm. When officers attempted to detain him, the suspect took off running. Officers chased the suspect onto the Queensway Bridge where the suspect discarded two firearms, one of which was discarded into the Bay. Officers arrested the suspect and recovered one of the firearms. LBPD's Dive Team responded and recovered the firearm that had been thrown into the water. The suspect was found to be a prohibited possessor. Great work by officers and the Dive Team!

- On Feb. 21, 2025 at approximately 3:11 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Long Beach Boulevard and 67th Street. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect was subsequently arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
