As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

• Stabbing – 2000 block of W. Spring Street – On Jan. 13, 2024, at approximately 7:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of W. Spring Street regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult victim and a female teenage victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and treated the victims for their injuries. The preliminary investigation suggests the victims were in the area when they were approached by a known female adult victim. After a brief verbal altercation, the suspect began stabbing the adult victim. The teenage victim attempted to intervene in breaking up the stabbing, which resulted in her suffering a stab wound. The victim fled in a vehicle prior to officers’ arrival. The investigation is ongoing.
