As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department’s homepage and on the “News” tab of the Department’s website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here’s a recap of incidents occurring last night:

Officers investigate a no-hit shooting - On March 11, 2023, at approximately 9:19 p.m., officers were dispatched to the intersection of 15th Street and Pacific Avenue regarding a no-hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a firearm nearby, but were unable to locate any casings. Preliminary investigation revealed a male adult suspect fired towards another male adult victim. The suspect left the firearm on scene and fled prior to officers' arrival. The victim also fled prior to officers' arrival and was unable to be located. The investigation is ongoing.
- Officers investigate a stabbing - On March 12, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Hammond Avenue regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the lower body. Long Beach Fire Department responded and transported the victim to a local hospital. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim and male adult suspect were engaged in a dispute, which resulted in the stabbing. The victim identified the suspect as his neighbor. Officers located the suspect and took him into custody. The suspect was identified as Ross Peets, a 32-year-old, resident of Long Beach. The suspect was booked at the Long Beach Jail for assault with a deadly weapon, non-firearm. Bail was set at $30,000.
