Have questions about building codes? You can now discuss your building code questions for the proposed design and construction of your project with our Building and Safety staff from your home, office or wherever you are!

Save time and travel by having a virtual meeting with one of our knowledgeable staff members. Appointments for virtual meetings are available during Permit Center business hours Monday – Friday, excluding holidays, and are held on Microsoft Teams. Virtual meetings are limited to (1) 30-minute appointment, per person, per day. If your project has already been assigned to a staff member, please contact them directly to discuss or address any building code questions you may have.

Please note the virtual meeting service is currently limited to building code inquiries. This service is NOT intended to be used for plan check submittals, express and other permit needs, and other counter or multiple services offered at the Permit Center (e.g., Planning/Zoning, Business Licensing, Public Works, etc.). For those activities and services, please visit the Permit Center at Long Beach City Hall. To schedule an in-person appointment, visit longbeach.gov/permits.

Virtual counter appointments should be treated like in-person appointments; we kindly ask that appropriate attire, language and conduct is used during appointments.

ADU questions related to the building code can be answered or discussed during a virtual meeting. However, zoning- and planning-related questions will require an in-person visit to the Permit Center at this time. An in-person appointment or visit is required if your ADU project involves multiple services or bureaus.

For more information about ADUs, visit longbeach.gov/adusb9.

If you only have a hard copy of your plans, we recommend an in-person visit to the Permit Center. Schedule an appointment by visiting longbeach.gov/permits.
