Teens and young adults ages 13 to 19, living in the U.S. and outside of Los Angeles County, can access our entire Libby collection of eBooks and eAudiobooks. We believe in your right to read what you like, discover yourself, and form your own opinions. Please contact the Library at LS-Books-Unbanned@longbeach.gov to apply for a Books Unbanned card.

Residents who live in California can sign up for a normal Long Beach Public Library card or eCard. Learn more about our library card types.
No. This card is intended for teens and young adults who do not have a Long Beach Public Library card.
Your card will be good for 1 year, with an option for renewal, as long as you remain eligible.
You can check out up to 10 titles at a time and place up to 15 titles on hold.
Checkouts will last for 21 days with the option to return items early.
The Books Unbanned card only gives you access to our Libby collection.
Our collection has different titles than the other library collections, and some titles that are not available in their collections may be available in ours, or vice versa. You are welcome to apply for cards at all Books Unbanned partnering libraries to find the books you need.
No. As part of our commitment to intellectual freedom, we protect your privacy and keep information about you and your use of the Library confidential. Confidentiality extends to all records with identifying information about you, including your requests for materials and borrowing history.
We will not disclose individual patron information except as necessary for the proper operation of the Library, upon your consent or as required by law. We do aggregate and analyze collective customer data to understand and support community interest, however this data does not identify individuals. View the City of Long Beach Privacy Policy.
