Parenting Books Collection
At all Long Beach Public Library locations, parents and caregivers will find both fiction and nonfiction books on our Parenting Shelf that address the challenges of being a kid in today's world.
These age-appropriate materials—many in picture book format—can help facilitate communication between adults and children who are dealing with difficult or complex topics, such as new siblings, death, divorce, discipline, potty training, being new to school, friends, bullying, and much more.
The Long Beach Public Library offers class visits for youth at all our locations.

Studies show that reading for pleasure helps children perform better in school and encourages lifelong learning.
These booklists were selected by librarians of the Long Beach Public Library and include both fiction and nonfiction books. Some titles may be familiar to you; you may remember them as favorites from your own childhood. Other titles are more recent and may introduce you to new authors and illustrators.
As always, you can also ask your local Long Beach Public Library librarian for book recommendations.
