Parks, Recreation and Marine is proud to announce the 117th season of the Long Beach Municipal Band summer concert series. This year’s performance theme, Picnics and Pops, is an ode to Long Beach’s iconic history, culture and community through popular hits across the decades. Concerts will take place at five Long Beach parks beginning Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, July 31. Each performance week will showcase a different theme, offering spectators a variety of musical entertainment all summer long. 

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame! Nominations can be for various categories, including golfers, coaches, volunteers, administrators and financial supporters. 

Nominations are being accepted now through April 30 at lbcity.info/golfhalloffame. 

This summer, Parks, Recreation and Marine will once again offer Summer Day Camps, Aquatics Camps and Kids Discovery Camps for local youth. Camps will run weekdays beginning June 15 through Aug. 21, 2026. Registration for all camps begins Saturday, April 11 at 9 a.m. online at lbcity.info/DayCamps. 

Effective Monday, March 23, 2026, the open gym hours will change from the current schedule of Monday through Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m., to Monday through Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m. and Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. The new schedule preserves the weekly 12 hours of open gym time for the community and includes one additional day of open gym access.

Parks, Recreation and Marine, in partnership with the Long Beach Public Library, will host Spring Fest, a free, family-friendly community event featuring a variety of springtime activities for people of all ages. Spring Fest will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lincoln Park (101 Pacific Ave.) in Downtown. 

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine will offer over 700 classes, activities, sports and leagues for people of all ages and abilities. Registration for new and existing spring recreation classes begins Monday, Feb. 2, 2026, available online, by phone and in person. 

The Winter Fun Days Program offers the opportunity for local youth to engage in sports, games, arts and crafts, and special events over the winter school break. This is a drop-in program where registered participants may come and go at their own discretion, and PRM staff will be onsite to lead a variety of recreational activities from noon to 5 p.m. at parks throughout Long Beach.

Registration for new and existing recreation classes offered by the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine begins Monday, November 3. Enjoy special interest subjects as well as classes in arts, music, nature, fitness, sports leagues and more available to residents ranging from preschool to older adults.

Beach Maintenance crew received new beach cleaning equipment, BeachTech 2000 tractor-towed beach cleaners and sand sifters, and a BeachTech 5500 self-propelled beach cleaner. This new equipment keeps beaches cleaner with its unique system for raking sand and collecting garbage and debris.

Join us at our aannual Howl-o-ween Festival at the El Dorado Nature Center (7550 E. Spring St.) on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 2 to 6 p.m., with trick-or-treating along the trails and a variety of family-friendly Halloween activities.

Homeland Cultural Center presents DanceFest, a showcase of cultural class offerings all on one stage, taking place Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Cesar E. Chavez Park Amphitheater (401 Golden Ave.)

Parks, Recreation & Marine and Health & Human Services have launched a youth community survey to promote and enhance physical and social activity in parks for middle school-aged youth looking for a safe space for recreation, exercise and connection with peers. Parks have many health benefits both physically and mentally, including fresh air, services and resources that promote exercise and fitness, sports and recreational programs, and space for social connection.

We will celebrate Older American’s Month, recognized nationally each May, by offering a wide variety of free activities throughout the city for adults ages 50 and above.

During the month of May, adults ages 50+ can enjoy a wide range of activities, including arts and crafts, pickleball, a carnival, movie nights, dinner and dance, a Senior Safety Summit, Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month celebrations, and a talent show.

Summer Park Camps
Youth ages 5 to 12 will enjoy games, crafts, physical fitness, enrichment activities and more. Summer Park Camps will operate Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. for those enrolled in extended care. 

Aquatics Day Camps
PRM will also offer two aquatics day camps for youth this summer.

Dead or dying trees in City parks are being removed that pose a danger to park visitors, especially near high activity areas such as playgrounds, picnic areas, fitness equipment, walkways, parking areas, and facilities. Free After School Program safely engages youth ages 5 to 12 with educational and engaging activities during the after-school hours. Registration for the After School Program begins Monday, Aug. 28, 2023.

The After School Program is a free drop-in program where registered participants may come and go as they please. Participants will receive homework assistance and enjoy enrichment activities and games.
