Share Your Voice – Virtual Community Meeting for New Washington Neighborhood Community Center 6/15/2026

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine along with project consultant NAC will host a virtual community meeting on Tuesday, June 23, at 6 p.m. During the virtual meeting, staff will provide an overview of the project and findings from the feasibility study on the proposed locations. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in group discussions, ask questions and share their feedback.

Parks, Recreation and Marine Bringing a Summer of Family Fun Beginning June 15 6/12/2026 Parks, Recreation and Marine of free, family-friendly entertainment and recreational programming options for youth, teens and adults. Offering accessible recreation during the summer months strengthens community connections, promotes community wellbeing and offers youth safe, constructive activities to engage in. PRM’s summer events and programs begin June 15 and run through Aug. 21, 2026.

2026 Long Beach Municipal Band Summer Concert Series 5/26/2026

Parks, Recreation and Marine is proud to announce the 117th season of the Long Beach Municipal Band summer concert series. This year’s performance theme, Picnics and Pops, is an ode to Long Beach’s iconic history, culture and community through popular hits across the decades. Concerts will take place at five Long Beach parks beginning Tuesday, June 23, through Friday, July 31. Each performance week will showcase a different theme, offering spectators a variety of musical entertainment all summer long.

Interactive Water Safety Day to Encourage Community Preparedness Ahead of Summer Season 4/27/2026 Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM), in partnership with the Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD) Marine Safety Division, will host Water Safety Day on Saturday, May 16, 2026, from noon to 2 p.m. at Belmont Plaza Pool (4320 Olympic Plaza), Martin Luther King Jr. Park Pool (1910 Lemon Ave.) and Silverado Park Pool (1540 W. 32nd St.). This free community event will educate people of all ages and swimming levels, including children and families, on how to stay safe in and around the water by learning essential skills for the upcoming summer season.

Davies Boat Launch Ramp to Close April 27 for Upgrades 4/20/2026 Davies Boat Launch Ramp, which will undergo major renovations as part of the Davies Boat Launch Facilities Improvements Project. Beginning Monday, April 27, 2026, the parking lot and access to Davies Boat Launch Ramp (6204 E. Marina Dr.) will close to the public.

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine is now accepting nominations for the 2026 Long Beach Golf Hall of Fame! Nominations can be for various categories, including golfers, coaches, volunteers, administrators and financial supporters.

Chittick Park Closed 4/13/2026 Chittick Field closed until further notice due to significant weather system.  As Chittick Field functions as a stormwater catch basin, the field may remain closed for up to 90 days following major rain events to allow for the removal of debris and contaminants and to ensure safe conditions for reopening.

This summer, Parks, Recreation and Marine will once again offer Summer Day Camps, Aquatics Camps and Kids Discovery Camps for local youth. Camps will run weekdays beginning June 15 through Aug. 21, 2026. Registration for all camps begins Saturday, April 11 at 9 a.m. online at lbcity.info/DayCamps

Long Beach Parks, Recreation and Marine to Update Operating Hours and Programming at City Gyms 3/16/2026

Effective Monday, March 23, 2026, the open gym hours will change from the current schedule of Monday through Thursday, 5 to 8 p.m., to Monday through Thursday, 4 to 6 p.m. and Friday, 4 to 8 p.m. The new schedule preserves the weekly 12 hours of open gym time for the community and includes one additional day of open gym access.

Spring Fest at Lincoln Park 3/6/2026

Parks, Recreation and Marine, in partnership with the Long Beach Public Library, will host Spring Fest, a free, family-friendly community event featuring a variety of springtime activities for people of all ages. Spring Fest will take place on Saturday, March 28, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lincoln Park (101 Pacific Ave.) in Downtown.

Celebrates Black History Month with Performances of “Black Mosaic” Featuring Local Youth 2/9/2026 This Black History Month, Parks, Recreation and Marine will once again host performances of “Black Mosaic,” a free music and dance showcase that celebrates and honors the history and contributions of the Black community – this year featuring local elementary school students. The community is encouraged to attend one of three performances happening this month.

Belmont Beach and Aquatics Center Rendering
Long Beach City Council Approves Construction Contract for Belmont Beach & Aquatics Center 1/21/2026 On Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2026, the Long Beach City Council approved with an 8 to 0 vote for the City to enter into a construction contract for the Belmont Beach & Aquatics Center, authorizing construction to move forward with Bernards Bros., Inc. as the selected contractor. This milestone action transitions the long-planned project from planning to construction and brings the City closer to delivering a modern, inclusive aquatics facility along the waterfront.

Beach Maintenance crew received new beach cleaning equipment, BeachTech 2000 tractor-towed beach cleaners and sand sifters, and a BeachTech 5500 self-propelled beach cleaner. This new equipment keeps beaches cleaner with its unique system for raking sand and collecting garbage and debris.

City of Long Beach Debuts New Water Debris-Collecting Device 10/1/2024 Parks, Recreation and Marine has announced its new Jellyfishbot, a remotely controlled debris-collecting device that can remove up to 100 pounds of debris from surface-level water in a single mission. The Jellyfishbot will enhance City efforts to clean Long Beach marina waters and raise awareness on larger marine pollution issues.

Tree Maintenance Underway 1/12/2024

Long Beach Parks Closed on Easter Sunday 4/10/2020 The Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine will close all parks, including open spaces, on Sunday, April 12, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Tree Removal
TREE REMOVALS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT SAFE LONG BEACH PARKS 12/23/2016 City of Long Beach will begin removing some dead and dying trees in the City’s parks that are increasingly prone to toppling over or limbs falling. The City must remove them to ensure the public’s safety and, consequently, support the growth of healthy trees.

Free After School Programs for Youth Begins August 28 1/1/0001

Free After School Program safely engages youth ages 5 to 12 with educational and engaging activities during the after-school hours. Registration for the After School Program begins Monday, Aug. 28, 2023.

The After School Program is a free drop-in program where registered participants may come and go as they please. Participants will receive homework assistance and enjoy enrichment activities and games.

Registration for a variety of new and existing recreation classes offered by the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation and Marine (PRM) begins Monday, Feb. 3. More than 700 activities in art, music, nature, fitness, special interest subjects, adult sports leagues and aquatics will begin in March and continue through May 2025.
